Jock itch (tinea cruris)

 

This is a fungal infection that often affects the groin and inner thighs. It's common in obese or people with excessive sweating

 

Signs and Symptoms

 

  • Redness in the groin and inner thighs.
  • Burning or persistent itchiness
  • Flaky, peeling or scaly skin
  • Shaped like a ring or half-moon shape which may be bordered with small blisters.

 

 

Treatment

 

Some jock itch resolves with an over-the-counter cream. After initial OTC treatment and home remedy failure, Callondoc recommends prescription-strength medication to treat the infection
