HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)

As there is no effective vaccine to prevent HIV transmission, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an effective way to prevent new infections among at risk patients.  PrEP can reduce the risk of HIV transmission by > 90% if taken correctly


Candidates for PrEP:

  • HIV-uninfected patients who are at high risk for HIV, 
  • Patients with a normal kidney function, 
  • Committed to daily medication and Adherence to routine follow-up visit 
  • No Osteoporosis or bone disease

Blood test requirement: HIV, kidney function, hepatitis B. and pregnancy (in women)
